A+ Question of the day: Examine the figure. Why might a person change the default Lid close action as shown in the “Plugged in” setting? (See the answer and video response below.)

Answer

The figure shows the “Lid close action” option in Windows 8.1. This is only displayed if the system is a laptop. A user might select “do nothing” for the Plugged in option if using an external display, keyboard and mouse. The default setting is to put the computer to sleep, but chances are that the user would rather not have the laptop open if using an external display. The person will often leave it closed and so would need to configure the lid close action appropriately.
